New Martin Saints Board Member

On the first day of school, these students are making new friends and getting ready for camp. They are not thinking about the Martin Saints board of directors. That's as it should be, nearly always.

To the Martin Saints community,

Today we are honored to welcome a new member to the Martin Saints board of directors. Mark Gaeto is a husband, a father of grown children, a member of Our Lady of the Assumption parish, a business leader, an investor, and, as of this week, our newest director.

Surely nearly all students, and perhaps most parents and teachers, rarely if ever think about our board of directors. Nearly all of the time, that is as it should be. The board are servant leaders, quietly in the background, laying the foundations for school life: the budget, the bylaws, the policies, insurance, real estate, fundraising. Board members create the context, enabling families and faculty to get on with the main event, which is to mentor and form our students.

But from time to time - and maybe especially today, as we welcome Mark aboard - let's notice and pray for our board members. If you spot one of them around school, let's thank them. Here is a list of who they are.

Each board member has his or her own deeply personal story for why they volunteer to serve. But I am also confident that they all share a common denominator. They share our faith, and they see this school as part of renewing the Church in our day and age.

Martin Saints is a great gift, a treasure. As we get ready to move to a new location next year, our young school needs prayer, support, and nurture. The camping trip is one way that our school says to our students that we love you, that we are here to accompany you, that we are invested in you as a whole person. As we accept and embrace the gift of this school, there are many people to thank. God's grace is flowing through it all. But today if you can, please spare a moment to give thanks for our board, to pray for them and their intentions.

Welcome aboard, Mark. We're honored and grateful to have you shoulder to shoulder with us in this great common endeavor.
