Martin Saints Graduate Publishes a Novel

We are so proud of Angeline George, Martin Saints class of 2022, for publishing her novel, Stargazer. Congratulations to Angeline and her family! (And a shout out to Martin Saints junior, Lizzy Kaceli, who did a bang up job as the novel's editor.)

Ok, if you're looking for perfect summer beach reading, here's the scoop: Stargazer is a curmudgeonly Philadelphia-based superhero. Saving the city from a supervillain, he gets in a big brawl on Broad Street, with some unintended consequences that leave him wracked with guilt. He wrestles with forgiveness, confidence, and maybe trying to retire from superheroics. But the city needs him, and there's an apprentice to be trained. What will happen? And there's a cliffhanger at the end too...

But this is Martin Saints. Of course Thomas Aquinas and Dante are going to be somewhere in the background.

Angeline says she started dreaming up Stargazer after watching a Spiderman movie. But at school her imagination was being fertilized by her teachers. She was studying Thomas Aquinas with Mr. Matt Ryan and Dante's Divine Comedy with Mr. Adam Franz. Wrestling with Aquinas helped her think through questions of her own faith. Working through Dante helped her think through questions of identity, sin, and forgiveness.

Nowadays, Angeline is studying for a BA in English with Holy Apostles University in Connecticut. She's also been an honorary Martin Saints faculty member, helping to chaperone our camping trip and assisting with craftmanship classes. As and when she has time, she promise that Stargazer sequels are forthcoming. She says that all the Stargazer characters, even the villains, will get their backstories and redemptive arcs.

In the meantime, congratulations again, Angeline! And, as St. Augustine would say, tolle, lege!
